How to Remove Bleach Spots From Carpet

Preparation Steps:
- 1. In many cases you won't need them but if you have sensitivities you should wear rubber or latex gloves.
- Blot the excess bleach with a white absorbent cloth or paper towel LIGHTLY trying not to spread it further it WILL do this itself.
- 2. Rinse with water and blot rinse and blot again.
- 3. Lightly blot A solution of 1/4 cup white vinegar mixed with 1 cup 250 ml of warm water onto the spot, using a clean cloth or paper towel. Work from the spot's inwards from the edge to the center.
- 4. Let this mix sit for at about 5-10 minutes.
- 5. Repeat blotting with a clean white cloth until the bleach transfers to the cloth and the bleach smell is mostly gone.
- 6. Rinse thoroughly with cold water and blot at least twice.

Old bleach stains in carpet there are lots of ways can be made un repairable usually by Friends advice and wives tales and the wrong sort of person trying to fix the problem only making matters worse.
Here's one we recently saw. QUOTED; The husband and wife tried out of desperation to fix this spot problem with allsorts of cleaners and carpet cleaners (MISTAKE NUMBER 1). A few bleach spots the size of a coffee cup had happened on their carpet near to the edge of the tiles in the kitchen. They didn't think anything of them due to the fact it was usually a dirty area, but when we were getting ready to sell out home they realized the carpet had gone missing and that began the dilemma. other stains were at the laundry and bathroom doorways also these were ok to be repaired by a professional or the people themselves if only the had used a proper kit as the one we sell.
Went out and bought a box of Rit fabric dye that is available at any Coles or Woolworths. Thinking they would save money and not get into trouble used the dry powder version (MISTAKE NUMBER 2). They did not have a big choice of colours, so they just got what they thought was the right colours which would get the colour the closest to our carpet. However the chosen colours were a fair bit darker than the actual carpet. They have blue carpet with some brown tints to it. It turns out it was dirt from the carpet cleaners not being able to clean the carpet properly. So they got the Tan and Navy Blue dye powders and mixed them according to the manufacturers instructions for COTTON (MISTAKE NUMBER 3).
- Mixed some dye in enough water to dilute it so that it looked lighter-colour than our carpet.
- Using a matchstick then tirelessly applied the dye solution to the bleached areas.
- When we confirmed it was too light, we added a bit more dye to our mix and tried again, repeating the process until they thought they had obtained just the right shade.
- They thought it was amazing! even though our carpet is a brown blue grey, with just these small spots and by applying it in such small amounts at a time, focusing on the section you can never tell that the dye colour and depth actually is correct at all!
These people who shall remain nameless state they will remain in our debt forever by the time we went to clean the carpet for the move out pointed out the obvious mark still there and lightened. The 3 main problems were the colour had spots of dye in it from not dissolving. 2 was not prepared as above for dyeing correctly. 3 COTTON dye was used instead of nylon. Needless to say we fixed the colour stretched the carpet back and saved them about $800 in new carpet.
